JV Loses To Maine in BHC Quarterfinals
3/14/2012

The Glenbard JV squad enter their BHC Quarterfinal matchup against Maine, having played them 3 times throughout the season.  In the first game, they dropped a semifinal game in the preseason North Star Cup, 5-2.  In November, they would go to Maine's home rink and beat them 5-4, but 2 days later, would fall 6-5 in the West Meadows Thanksgiving Tournament.  So we fast forward to tonight where both teams have been good hockey of late with a berth in the JV Combined Semifinals at stake.

The first period got started with both teams getting some good offensive chances, but both goaltenders were up to the task.  Neither team was able to dent the net in the first 15 minutes as we finished off the first period still scoreless.  Maine got the scoring started in the 2nd period by netting 2 goals to give them a 2-0 lead going into the 2nd period intermission.  Trailing 2-0 going into the 3rd, Glenbard knew it had an uphill climb, but put themselves in a tough spot by taking an early penalty in the 3rd period and Maine cashed in on the powerplay to make it 3-0.  Maine would add to their lead and make it 4-0 before Glenbard would finally get on the scoreboard.  Sophomores Matt Bosler and Patrick Mullally each netted goals, but time ran out on Glenbard as they fell 4-2.  Sophomore Sean Mitchell made 16 saves in the losing effort.
